Gary's tasting notes
The Picq's are among the elite growers who understand that quality starts in the vineyards, which, in their case, are all immaculate. Didier Picq vinifies all of his wines in stainless steel tanks. Located on the right bank of Chablis, Picq's vineyard is planted on an impossibly steep 45 degree, south facing slope.
Maybe the most vibrant and floral of the 3 Picq Chablis tasted in this newsletter. The nose is almost hedonistic with so much deliciousness exploding. Clean and fresh. A distinct minerallity on its finish really makes you yearn for another sip. Super complex. One of the better '09 1er Cru Chablis I've had so far. What I love about his wine is that its so complex, yet so consumable right now.
