Gary's tasting notes
Hubert Lamy is considered by most to be the benchmark producer in St. Aubin. Olivier Lamy took over the winemaking in 1992 and brought the estate to new heights. This wine is produced from a small 0.9 hectare old vine plot. The vines range in age from 41-65 years of age.
A really balanced nose with subtle smoke, cedar, fig, and some great minerality coming through on the tail end of the nose. On the palate it reminds me of your mother, who is very charming, sweet and little, yet when she gets pissed off at you, she turns into an MMA fighter. What I mean by that is this: the wine has very delicate flavors but substantial force and power, which is a difficult tightrope to balance. Lamy pulls it off! Look for this to last 15 years, but if you're in the mood to pop one now, pair this with very, very expensive lobster.
