Gary's tasting notes

Unlike the 2008 Denner "Dirt Worshipper" tasted just before it, this wines Viognier (which is just a touch), adds dramatically to the aromatics... a true California interpretation of Cote Rotie. Black pepper is bouncing on the nose, with really dense and leathery, beef jerky notes. A tremendous bouquet that I could just smell for hours. The first thing that hits me are thoughts of great cool climate syrahs. What that means... very fresh and not goopy or jammy. Sour cherry is super persistent, turning very dry on the finish. Don't get me wrong, this has enough fruit to appeal to the California wine lover, but the nuances that N. Rhone Francophiles look for are all here in spades. Wonderful juice and kudos to winemaker, Tyler Thomas, and the Green Valley. The only thing that makes me sad is that there are only 264 cases of this wine.
