Late on my comment, but that's how my schedule rolls. I also don't want to use the word "hate" and will go for "not care for".... But 1 yr ago you would not see me appreciate or respect whites... Now I am obsessed and open to all varietals... Rueda/ verdejo would be my specific answer. But after a decade of seriously drinking vino I learn to give each bottle/vintage/winemaker a chance. That is part of the excitement... Charting new palates...
PS- GV you need to take some Spanish lessons- come on!

QOTD: malbec from Argentina I used to drink a lot but had fallen off the list. Doesnt excite me anymore, the fad is wearing out

Gary, I know I'm late to comment on this (it's more like Weekly Grape, given my schedule recently), but how well do you think the Nebbiolo will age? I can see your criticisms, but they are precisely the kind that age should heal. I'd be curious for you to revisit this one for the 1000 episode of DG.

QOTD: for me it's no question Rombauer Chardonnay I started really getting into wine about 6 months ago and before I did I loved the oakeyness but now for me it has become the "oak monster"

I am so happy to hear your comments on Michigan and Mexico. I took a trip at the end of last year and tried wine in a variety of states and I thought that Michigan had potential. Two years ago I went tasting in Mexico and also thought they had potential. Keep up the good work.

From my own experience, the tasting results do not surprise me.

QOTD - I can't think of a wine that I have switched between love and hate in the last year. But I do have this intense desire to love pinotage, and yet every time I try it I end up hating it. I'll keep looking.

I appreciate the effort, but it seems like every time you go outside the box, it does not show well... Makes me not want to try the random stuff... Is there truly good stuff out there in the lesser known regions?

Off course there is much to explore in the new regions (e.g. México), I dare you try some Mexican wines, you would be happily surprise .

As I said before, this Equinoccio wine is really not a good example about wine the expression in Mexico.

I really hope Gary shows some good efforts of Mexican wine.

    Good episode, good information.

QOTD - I really have not had the experience you describe. In my latest project of tasting as many Reisling (twenty {20} as of today) as I can I have found two (2) that I really like, three (3) that I found just horrid and the rest can be described as serviceable or good or standard. But I have not yet had that much of a swing in my evaluations over time.

I couldn't have said it better tahn Ivan Perez. And eventhough I haven't read many reviews, much less international reviews, my appreciation is that it's not as bad as you say. I've had better Mexican Nebbiolos though.
