Episode #39 Wine & Spirits Top of the List Tasting

In an effort to work the New York City wine circuit, Gary Vaynerchuk continues tasting at the Wine & Spirits magazine "Top of the List" tasting, which features some of the nation's top restaurant wine brands as chosen by their readers. He chooses two Pinot Noirs, one from California and one from Oregon, to see how they stack up.

I've had the Belle Glos Meiomi and liked it a lot. However I also have had the Belle Glos Clark and Telephone and ran out and bought a few bottles the next day.

Last wine I bought was probably a chablis but I don't remember the name. It was on my bosses dime.

QOTD: 1977 Charles Krug Cabernet Sauvignon at Bern's in Tampa while I was there for work a couple of weeks ago. Oldest wine I've ever had. Wasn't spectacular, but the tour of the wine cellar was.

I recently poured the Meiomi Pinot Noir at a gallery open house and it was a huge hit! I love the coastal fruit and spicyness :-)

QOTD: Had an 09 Argyle Pinot Noir. Wasn't terribly impressed.

I haven't really caught the domestic Pinot Noir bug. I am way more old world on my palate and haven't had a domestic that isn't either kool aid or so thin it looks watered down. I guess I have found a couple that were decent but not mind blowing...
