My best meal this year...... at my lovely Spanish mother in law´s house in southern Spain.
Otherwise tough question, as I have to review restaurants as part of my work.
One great meal was at Arzak in San Sebastian in northern Spain. -

QOTD: Best meal so far was at Momofuku Noodle Bar. My friend and I shared one of almost everything on the menu. Awesome!

QOTD: Best meal I had so far was at Lagoon at the St. Regis Resort in Bora Bora. Had a wonderful meal with some great French wine.

QOTD: Osso Bucco at Brown Street. In hindsight would have paired well with a heavy spanish red.

it is funny I haven't tried any Spanish red wines in a while because I haven't like many of them. To splashy and it annoys me. It is like they have an inferiority complex. Interesting to see what you thought. 14% wow, that sounds like a winter red to me!
Best meal. I know it is simple but making pizzas on a bake stone standing around the oven with friends gulping wines. Simple but amazingly good, plus the good company, I just love it!

Without a doubt, a beautiful slab of corned beef with cabbage and carrots. Cooked for a long time on the stove then in the oven. Had irish beer though instead of wine.
