Posted a new video on www.unwined.tv suggesting a simple 4-step guide to good food and wine pairing, for those who are interested.
This seems to be the most recurring topic of conversation when sharing wines with other wine lovers, so we thought we'd devote an episode to tackling the basics and presenting one method to getting neat pairings!
Following on from our crazy 15-grape italian wine last week, we have plenty more fun episodes lined up - and we hope to make some unusual videos on Austrian, English and Alsace wines soon, if we can get our hands on the good stuff!
Cheers :)

Hi, I have enjoyed your shows to date. Do you have plans to review any US wines? It might be a good idea since you are piggybacking here,

OK I didn't mean to sound quite so terse. I'm just saying, at some point...

Hi Robert - we would VERY much like to run some shows devoted to US wines. Here is the issue:
- 80% of the wines we review are sent by wine retailers (about 20% are bought by us).
- We have barely been sent any US wines, despite having received a large quantity from retailers.
- The UK market for US wines doesn't seem to be very developed, for reasons I don't truly understand (given that other 'New World' regions do well here). It's much harder to find US wines that offer excellent value because there is far less choice than other regions.
- The dual focus of www.unwined.tv is on finding wines that punch above their price, and wines from less well-known producers. In the UK, we tend to only get the very famous top US wines (sold at high prices), or generic entry level US wines that aren't of great interest. Getting hold of mid-price gems is difficult because there simply aren't that many interesting, mid-price US wines on offer.
That said, many of my favourite wines are from the US and we will certainly be working to try to acquire some good examples for future shows. We have a very tight budget and try to maximise value for the viewer - currently this has meant US wines haven't had a chance to shine but this will change! I certainly wish we had a US office devoted to obtaining samples for us!
Thanks a lot for your feedback and I hope you keep watching and enjoying!

Hi Marc, Thanks for taking the time to paint a vivid picture of your wine options in the UK. I never really thought that unavailability was so extreme over there, given that there are so many good wineries struggling to sell their wines. Maybe things will change.
Thanks for doing the show, good luck!

Mark: Maybe we can send you some wines? I did not realize the UK did not carry a wide selection of US wines. I know someone in the Land of Oz (Australia) told me they have very few US wines. I guess it has to do with "protectionism" and the over abundance of Aussie wines on the shelves.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers!
